Just some comments on Felix Miller’s helpful tipps:
-Regarding Hurtigruten/ Havila: Price for a bicycle is 250 NOK per day. (Quite expansive for a short trip like Vadsø – Kirkenes.)

-Regarding the Vy app: I found out that it’s probably easier to use entur.no (or Entur app). You can book pretty everything there, and if you need any help, they’ll help you in the chat.

Copper Spur HV UL1 Bikepack
Today I have this one from Helsport. But don’t recommend for Bikepacking since it not freestanding

What we typically do when bikepacking/touring is to take the OttoLock that Matthew recommended. It’s quite light and it’s not all that easy to defeat. To that, we have recently added the Knog Scout which is a combination of an alarm and an Apple “Find Me” device. You can set it so that if your bike is jostled, an alarm goes off. That makes your bike a much bigger hassle to deal with than someone else’s. When combined with the OttoLock, I think it’s a pretty effective combination.
The other big advantage to the Knog Scout is that you can pretty well be certain that your bike has made it on the plane or if it hasn’t (which has happened to us) you know where it is when you have to deal with the airlines baggage people. You can usually see it as it moves through the baggage handling as long as any of the people on the ramp have an iPhone. It behaves, in that application, just like an Apple AirTag. We mounted ours beneath the bottle cage.

That is some journey! Congratulation!
Thanks, the track is now open for everyone
Ps: Unfortunately, I don’t know of any company offering a rack/carrier to transport bicycles. I always rent a car that I can fit the bike in the boot.

Hi iz,
Sorry for the delay in replying. Only saw the message now. It’s great to hear you are coming to Norway this summer! Some fantastic riding ahead of you! Regarding your question, renting a good road bike in Western Europe is very expensive (usually more expensive than a car rental). Uteguiden rents out top-of-the-range Fara All-Road bikes for a remarkably low price. In Oslo, they cost around 900 NOK a day. I think 4800 NOK for 8 days is a very good deal in Norway. I rented a good road bike in Switzerland for 4 days, and it cost 90 euros a day!
I have created a page on the need-to-know section that goes into detail about every bike rental place I know about in Norway. There is also a website where regular people can offer their bikes for rental. Check everything out here. http://www.cyclenorway.com/bike-rental-maintenance/ But If I were you, I would book Uteguiden.
Norway is not set up for this, and I advise against it. I do not believe you will save any money trying to send packages to locations in Norway. The logistics alone would be a nightmare to try and organise. You either bring a large stock from your own country and accept the weight issue on your bike (getting lighter every day at least). Or bring a few to start you off and buy the rest of them in Norway. The cheapest place is XXL sports shop, where they are around 90-100kr. There is a new page all about food and drink options here: https://cyclenorway.com/food-drink/
I know from US hiking trails that it is not uncommon to send packages ahead to certain addresses, mostly outdoor shops. I don’t know if such a network exists in Norway. You might have to reach out to shops ahead of time to check if they are willing to hold on to goods for you for a while.
I do imagine, however, that the cost of postage might already cancel out your savings on bulk…
Sorry I cannot be more helpful.
