Hi,
I’m planning on doing (a part of) the Fjord Norway route, starting in Oppdal. (https://cyclenorway.com/routes/norse-all-road-series/overview/fjord-norway/)
I’ll be riding my gravel bike and plan on doing 50-60 km a day.
I’ve noticed that the Atlantic Road is relatively close by to the route.
Do you think it would be worth a (pretty long) detour?
Or would this mean cycling on a lot of busy roads just to get there and be able to meet up with the original route afterwards?
I wouldn’t want to miss Ausjøvegen either, so I’m thinking leaving the route from Sunndalsora and basically cycling around the Tingvollfjorden (and more) to reach the Atlantic Road and then circle back to meet up with the route in Sunndalsora again coming from the other side of the fjord.
What do you think?
Thanks in advance!
Personally, If I were you, I would stick to the Fjord Norway route, which is full of unbelievable nature. Every day is amazing. It seems a long way to cycle a 16km road that is full of tourist traffic.
My rule is never to try and do too much on a bike. You stop enjoying the moment when you are too focused on a tick list of places you must see. It’s the places and roads that aren’t on the tourist map that you may enjoy more.
That is just my opinion. I’m sure others will have different views.
Thank you for the reply Matthew.
Indeed, the detour would probably not be worth the reward, even if it is a very spectacular road. I’ll stick to the Fjord Norway route. ?
Thanks
