Marka Overnighter – The Perfect Bikepacking Introduction in Oslo’s Backyard

This weekend (6th to 7th September 2025), we’re heading out to join the Marka Overnighter, a fantastic initiative organised by Bikeshop Oslo. It’s a simple but brilliant concept: meet at Bikeshop in Karenslyst Allé (15:00 Meet up, 16:00 Roll out), ride about 40 km into Nordmarka, set up camp, and share a night together under the trees.

What makes this special is the location. Nordmarka is Oslo’s backyard wilderness – close enough that you can reach it in an evening, yet wild enough to feel far from the city. With its gravel tracks, quiet lakes, and wide open forest, it’s the ideal setting for a first taste of bikepacking. You get just the right distance: around 40 km each way, with smooth gravel roads and one kick ass camping spot with lake views.

The timing couldn’t be better either. The forecast looks good with sunshine and no rain, the mosquitoes are finally gone, and the first touches of autumn colour are appearing in the forest. If you’ve ever thought about trying an overnighter, this is the moment.

One of the best parts of the Marka Overnighter is the community. You’ll be riding and camping alongside experienced bikepackers who’ve travelled all over the world. It’s a rare chance to ask questions, share tips, and learn directly from people who live and breathe this style of riding.

On top of that, RealTurmat are generously sponsoring dinner for everyone, so all you need to bring is your sleeping setup (tent or tarp), a few snacks, and a good mood. And don’t forget, every participant is entered into a giveaway with the chance to win quality bikepacking gear.

We’ll be there to support, ride, and enjoy the evening in the woods. If you’re curious about bikepacking or just want a fun and social night in the forest, this is the perfect place to start. See you out there! ?
