The south is where the sun shines the most and is a favorite among Norwegians on summer holidays. You will find fewer mountains and more flat sections along the coast, and tunnels are limited due to the many road options. Much of the population lives in this area but it’s easy to escape the crowds and hit the forests of southern Telemark and Adger. If you have never cycled in Norway before this area is a good option to acclimatize you to the tough sections further north.
