Swedish Border – Vestkapp: This is the longest journey across the country you can take. You will experience every type of Norwegian nature and possible weather conditions! There are so many highlights including riding down off the mountains to the pretty town of Lillehammer, Tusenmeteren gravel section, Nordfjord, and the stunning barely known Vestkapp peninsular. You should be aware there are several mountain roads on this route, and you should check opening dates before riding. Alternative roads can be used if required.
Note: There is a 3km tunnel on the main road E39 after Nordfjord ferry crossing (heading west). A local bus goes through the tunnel many times a day. We recommend this option.

Keep in mind
All cycling routes published on CYCLENORWAY.com are intended as planning resources and sources of inspiration to be used alongside your own research and judgement. Routes are created using careful research, but every cyclist has different abilities, expectations, and risk tolerance. Some routes may include hike-a-bike sections, muddy or wet hiking paths, technical terrain, steep climbs, descents, or remote areas that may not be suitable for everyone. Route data, mapping software, and conditions can also change or contain inaccuracies. Cycling in Norway is generally very safe. Nevertheless, if you choose to ride these routes, you do so at your own risk.
