Eksingedalen Loop
The Bergen–Voss region is renowned for its dramatic landscapes of deep valleys, powerful rivers and towering mountains. While the E16 is the main road linking the two cities, it carries heavy traffic and passes through several long tunnels, making it unsuitable for most cyclists. Fortunately, a network of quiet backroads offers a far more rewarding way to experience this spectacular part of Fjord Norway.
The highlight is Eksingedalen, a hidden valley that feels worlds away from the busy transport corridor. Here, you’ll cycle through an idyllic landscape of traditional farms, crystal-clear rivers, endless waterfalls and peaceful forests, with very little traffic to interrupt the experience. The route also passes through historic hand-carved tunnels, over quiet mountain roads and by charming villages, making it one of western Norway’s best-kept cycling secrets.
