Ålesund

When it comes to locations Ålesund is something else. The views of the islands, and mountains cry out to be cycled. You can do day trips to some of the islands. However, it’s perhaps even better to spend a night and then not worry about missing the last ferry back. The mountainous areas are beyond spectacular and if you’re willing to do a long day in the saddle the Norangsdalen loop is possibly one of the most beautiful on the planet. The only drawback to Ålesund is its confusing and poorly built cycle lanes. I get lost every time I ride into the city. If the opportunity arises, it is more convenient to take a boat directly to the city center.
