Last summer one of Norway’s coolest female adventure bikepackers, Karen Ekman, headed to the far north to cycle the Arctic Post Road. Built way back in 1798 this old and rough gravel route runs from Alta all the way down into Finland. It served as the name suggests to deliver mail and goods to the remote communities in the far north. Today it’s one of the only remaining long-distance gravel roads left in the Norwegian Arctic. It is no longer in commercial use and you will find yourself all alone with only reindeer keeping you company.

Karen has spent time putting the full detailed overview of her adventure for our members. She’s done a wonderful job and if you find this route of interest thank her in the comment box at the bottom. This route is as wild and remote as you’ll find anywhere in Europe.
