Hello there!
Planning a day trip from Oslo to Tønsberg in late July … just wondering which route you recommend:
1. South east – down to Moss, then hop across on the ferry to Horten, and then South from there… or
2. South west – e.g. via Asker, Drammen, then further south to Tønsberg
Or another alternative?
Cheers, Kat
Hi Kat,
Both ways are fine to do but for a day trip, Drammen is a lot easier! The other route is more beautiful and a great ride to do but certainly a long day in the saddle.

There is a 3rd option of taking the summer boat from Drøbak but also very long.

Thanks Matthew! The ride with gps maps you’ve linked to are for Kongsberg, but I was asking about Tønsberg! Understandable mix up as they do rhyme, Hehe
Whoops! Sorry! Well, now you have two different routes just in case you decided to cycle to Konsgberg ?!
In regard to Tønsberg, I would certainly recommend option one and head to Moss. It’s a nicer side of the fjord to cycle, and a little stop in Son is a must!

Thanks, look forward to the ride! This is part of a longer visit to Norway. Will also be heading up north to Lofoten/Senja to bikepack for a couple of weeks in July inspired by your videos, so may come back with questions on those routes later on… 🙂
