Which way should I go starting from Tromsø airport? I have five complete days ahead of me. Any ideas?
I’ve already seen Senja once but with the camper. Nevertheless, Senja seems to be the most attractive. I’ve never been any north of Tromsø.
I would like to sleep in a tent and do fishing in the fjords and where possible fishing in the rivers and lakes. Doing a round trip would be great (instead of going one way and the same route back). I’m was also investigating taking the Hurtigruten or alternatively a domestic flight to another location and then cycle back (provided that I can take the bike on board without the bike box. The bike box should remain at tromso airport)
Hi Paul, can you tell me how many kilometers roughly per day you plan to cycle? And how many days in total to get back to Tromsø and catch your flight?
60-100km per day. I will arrive on a Wednesday morning and depart on a tuesday after lunch.
Sorry, I see in your email you wrote 60-100km.
Three suggestions for you:
1) Senya and Kvaløya: A beautiful loop with plenty of places to wild camp and fish. You can explore some of the dead-end roads on Senja (leading to small fishing villages) if you want to add extra km.

2) Lyngen Alps: Another stunning area with plenty of fishing opportunities. You have a small section on the main road E6 but if you time it correctly it should be reasonably quiet and not a concern to cycle.

3) Cycle down to Lofoten: This is about 400km (including ferry journeys). Finish in Svolvær and then take the Hurtigruten back to Tromsø. This may be a bit rushed as you will need to work out which boat to catch to reach the airport on time.

Personally I would cycle number one as I think it ticks all the boxes for you and is comfortable doing in the time frame you have.
I hope this helps!
Awesome, that looks so promising. I can’t wait to come to Norway. Thank you so much, Matthew. You are doing a great job!
