Just wanted to share a route that we completed this summer thanks to the incredible information and routes you have on this website. Over 5 weeks we combined the Southern Explorer, parts of the Fjord Norway route and sections of the Norwegian Odyssey, Norwegian Divide and Wilderness route to create a 2800km circular route taking us from Kristiansand upto Trondheim and back down to Kristiansand, maximising as much gravel as we could all on a tandem. You can see/read more about it on my Instagram @aboutthejourney_photography. It was the most incredible experience and route, and felt like we got away from the tourists and had a real insight into what real life in Norway is like. The route really tested us and bought out the best and worst in us, but I would do it again in a shot. Norwegian gravel is something else! We have certainly returned home wanting more!
The only thing I would say is one of the hike-a-bike sections, just before Porsgrunn when riding the Southern Explorer clockwise is best avoided, even on an unloaded lonely bike, trees/branches down all over the trail, it almost appeared deliberate, very easy to lose the trail in quite a dense forest. Easily avoidable if you carried on on the road down to Eidanger.
Thanks again for the work you put into this website that allows us to have these amazing experiences.
