Hello everyone,
I’m currently on a bikepacking trip from Hamburg to Tromsø. Today I’m having a forced rest day in Kolvereid due to heavy wind.
I’m registered for the Lofoten Triathlon (Half Extreme) next week, but I’m not quite sure yet if I’m going to start (depends on how well I make progress over the next few days and on the weather). Anyone else planning to start and want to get in touch? Maybe someone who is as scared of swimming in the sea as I am 😉
Best,
Thiemo
Usually, I know someone doing this Triathlon but not this year. It’s one of the best to do in Norway and the swim is in the harbour. It should be pretty calm to swim and the water is fine without swimming gloves or shoes (but still cold)!
I did the Olympic Plus category in 2020. I made a video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFidLKTgR_A
Thanks Matthew! You were right: Swimming is done in the harbour, so no waves. Crystal clear water, which is of course cold, but it’s survivable also for a bad swimmer like me. 😉
For anybody considering taking part in the future: It’s a beautiful triathlon! Very well organized. You can benefit from a special hotel rate. You get rewarded with a nice view from the mountain during running and a fish burger at the finish line 🙂
Congrats Thiemo on your achievements!! I’m glad everything worked out well!
