Tagged: EuroVelo campervans
Hi everyone,
It’s my first time in Norway and I was looking forward very much. I came to Kristiansand on 10 July and I must say I am about to leave after 10 days.
I was prepared for climbs and rain, but not for roads proposed here being full of cars and campervans almost blowing you off the road.
The road from Kristiansand going west was partly ok.
The road to Langesnes is NOT recommendable as crowded by campervans and cars, which is annoying with the climbs.
I took the bus to Flekkefjord hoping to see the fjords and to get rid of the campervans. Due to the bad weather I changed my mind and went east, following your route “Oslo – Stavanger – the long way” the other way round. From the bus I saw that the EuroVelo 1 sometimes is on the highway! The route between Flekkefjord and Fosseland should NOT be recommended even though officially EuroVelo. It is deadly in some sections. Take the bus between Flekkefjord to Fosseland, each hour there is one (see Entour app).
The following kilometres are some more some less fine. But today I followed your suggestion towards Evje. Lovely climbs, nice views – and then came endless kilometres (25? 30,) on the freshly asphalted 42. Same story as on the coast, plus that everyone wanted to go very fast and not leave me enough space.
This means I cannot trust the routes suggested, as the situation in July is extreme. I will try the EuroVelo 3 now, and if that doesn’t work out nicely, I’m done. No more Norway for me.
Astrid
There is a section of the EuroVelo 3, which is on the main E6 road.
