Hello, I thought to cycle across the Hardangervidda from west to east. I saw a lot of tracks at brouter.de. Is there anyone who did this before? I`m very interested in experiences.
Best regards Lars
Hi Lars,
No roads are going through Hardangervidda national park. You have a small section that has a gravel track. See here: http://www.ridewithgps.com/routes/42487147?privacy_code=98Xmv6ttqBDLpuwf
There are hiking paths all the way through the park, which connect with mountain cabins that you can stay at if open (otherwise, you’ll need a DNT member’s key). The hiking paths can be cycled in places, but you may find hike-a-bike sections. Only a good mountain bike is recommended (don’t even consider a gravel bike).
The weather on the plateau can be extreme, and you should come well-prepared for all possibilities.

At least parts of Hardangervidda is a national park. In the national park cycling is prohibited except on a limited set of tracks.

One the map on page 104 and 105 you can find the tracks where cycling is allowed.

Note: I don’t know if this map is up to date. I just found it with some googling.
Thanks a lot for the information. Perhaps we will see us next week, I`m planing to ride some of the gravel tracks.
