Sognefjellet New Cycling Shelter!

Sognefjellet

On Thursday 27. June from 12.00 – 13.00, Cycle Norway has been invited to join the opening of a new cycling rest area on the famous Scenic Route Sognefjellet mountain road 55.

The Minister for Transport, Jon-Ivar Nygård will be offically opening the newly refurbished rest area called Liasanden. There will be some speeches from the architect, entrepreneur, the mayor of the municipality, and a representative for the tourism industry in the region. Between the speeches, there will be music from local artists and a serving of a light meal (usually cinnamon rolls).

All cyclists are welcome to the event and you are welcome to join Cycle Norway afterwards on a ride up to the top of Sognefjellet and perhaps further if the weather conditions are stable.

At the event, there may be a chance to ask the Minister for Transport about the government’s plans for cycle tourism in the coming years. But more importantly, we can check out the new cycling shelter built to provide a free night’s rest for cyclists heading over Sognefjellet.
