Oslo – Villmarks – Birken

A monster of a gravel route on remote roads and paths through Norway’s vast eastern forests. There is no wow factor scenery, but plenty of special moments among beautiful forest landscapes with lakes and wild open country that is so peaceful to be part of. It’s easy to wild camp and find free shelter all along this route, and if you don’t mind a couple of short hike-a-bike sections, you’ll find it very rewarding to complete. It’s easy to jump on the train at Lillehammer and head back to Oslo, knowing you’ve conquered a unique little-known route through tough and challenging terrain.
