Between the 15th of June to the 15th of August, they are most active. It depends on where you are in the South. Along the coast, they aren’t too bad. But in the forest areas and around lakes expect some to plenty during the evening. I personally wouldn’t recommend a mosquito hat in the south of Norway but in the far North yes.
