Rondane Loop

Rondane is one of Norway’s most impressive National parks and boosts the most beautiful mountain range on the country’s eastern side. There are limited roads inside the National parks, but this route follows a lovely loop around the park’s fringes. Grand vistas follow you, and as you cycle, you are treated to a wild and impressive environment utterly different from the western fjord region. If you are tempted to cycle into the park, one detour on a challenging gravel road leads to a famous full-board hiking cabin (Rondvassbu), where you can stay for the night and even add some hiking to your itinerary. The route is challenging and requires a few small sections on main roads, which will not appeal to everyone. The train can be used to skip some sections, but don’t skip Grimdalen gravel road, which is perhaps the biggest highlight for many.
