Hi,
how much traffic is to be expected on the E6 north of Mo i Rana? Although everybody recommends the coast on the classic bikeroute, we discuss if it were also a good idea to go to the north more central with a detour to Melfjordbotn (maybe), a detour to Svartisvatnet and then stop at the arctic circle center…. So far, the route along the coast didn’t disappoint at all :), however, if the traffic would be ok-ish and the weather better a bit away from the coast… ? Dont know, what do you think?
The E6 has speeds from 70km to 110km with supply trucks running up and down it all day. I personally would not cycle it but people do and it’s certainly possible. You can do Melfjordbotn without requiring much time on the E6. The journey further north to the Arctic Circle is also possible. There are two tunnels but I think you can go around both. A friend of mine did this loop a few years ago.
