Hi – I am trying to purchase a bus ticket for a trip in a couple of weeks, on the Nor-way.no site. First the site declined my credit card – a google search revealed that they don’t accept payments from US-based credit cards. OK. But now when I try to access the site I just get “The request was blocked”. Tres odd. Any idea what’s going on? I switched computer, even tried from my work computer in the office – same thing. Mystified. Is it geo blocking?
Thanks in advance,
Phil Brandish (Boston, USA)
Ho Philip, on their Norwegian site they state there has been technical problems over the last few days. Have you tried their app?
I would try and contact them using this page and hopefully they can manually book your request with Bike.

I hope this page works for you.
Hi Matthew – thanks – good to know. I’ll leave it for a few days then try again. Their app is not available in the App Store in the US. I’ll be in the UK next week (I’m also an expat) – I’ll try to get the App from there. The customer service link is also being blocked for me. In the limit I’ll just take care of it locally when I get to Bergen. Thanks!! /Phil
Resolution! Nor-way did confirm in email that they actively block US-based Visa and Mastercard transactions, but AMEX is good. They are working on a solution with PayPal but it is not ready yet. Also – their website is back up again as of today. So – I was able to use a UK-based Visa debit card to complete the booking successfully and get a ticket for me and my bike. Hooray!
Great news! ?
Question here is regarding the ferry from Eemshaven (NDL) to Kristiansand. From what I’m seeing on line the operator Holland Norway Lines has gone into administration. Does anyone know of any ferry lines who will pick up this route out of same port or even Emden (Germany) this coming summer? Thanks!
Hi, not that I’m aware of. All ferries that go to Norway are listed on our Getting to Norway page in the need to know menu. Kiel is only port in German that has ferries to Norway (Oslo).
