In an era dominated by major social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, it might seem unnecessary to launch an independent social media channel. However, for Cycle Norway, creating our own platform isn’t just a luxury—it’s a necessity.

Facebook and Meta, under Mark Zuckerberg’s leadership, have turned social media into a profit-driven machine that prioritizes engagement over user well-being. Their algorithms amplify misinformation, fuel division, and bury important content under a flood of ads. Users have little control over their own data, while privacy violations and intrusive tracking have become the norm. Worse still, businesses and communities are forced to rely on ever-changing algorithms to reach their own audience. That’s why Cycle Norway is launching its own community platform—designed for cyclists, by cyclists—free from corporate interference, data exploitation, and the distractions of mainstream social media.
Is this a David & Goliath story? Maybe. But we’re not here to take on Big Tech—we’re here to build something better for cyclists. The vision is clear, the journey is just getting started, and we hope you’ll be part of it.

The Cycle Norway Journey: The road is long but we’re moving in the right direction
Cycle Norway started as a simple idea—make it easier for cyclists to explore Norway. But the more I looked into it, the more I realized the real challenge wasn’t just finding good routes. It was the lack of connection between the people who make cycling possible—the state, businesses, and the riders themselves.
Right now, cycling in Norway is growing, but everything is scattered. You’ve got state institutions promoting tourism but not always knowing what cyclists need. Businesses catering to riders but struggling to reach them. And cyclists piecing together information from random forums, outdated websites, and social media that’s not really built for them.

Many people need a bikebox heading home – Let our new community help you!
That’s where Cycle Norway’s platform comes in. It’s not just another cycling blog or social media page—it’s a central hub that brings everything together.
- 🚴♂️ For Cyclists – The best routes, real-time updates, and services tailored for you, whether you’re a long-distance tourer or a weekend explorer.
- 🏢 For Businesses – A direct way to connect with cyclists who actually need your services, from bike rentals to accommodations to gear shops (only aurthorised professional ones).
- 🏛 For State & Local Institutions – A smarter way to share infrastructure updates, promote tourism, and invest in cycling where it matters most.

Where It’s Going
The goal isn’t just to make life easier for cyclists—it’s to level up the whole cycling industry in Norway. With better communication and access to the right services, the experience improves for everyone. Cyclists get more tailored resources, businesses get the right customers, and the state gets a stronger, more connected cycling economy.
This is still a work in progress, but the vision is clear: Cycle Norway will be the leading resource for cycling in Norway, making it easier, more enjoyable, and better supported than ever before.
No gimmicks, no endless scrolling—just a platform that actually helps.
